David & Sandra Hynes organized an Opera night with 3 course dinner on 30th Jan 2023 at Lugana Restaurant in Elmers End and in aid of flood relief in Baddomalhi, Pakistan.
The event saw the return of the very popular and renowned soprano Zita Tatrai and it was a ‘SELL OUT’.
The event raised £740 plus donations from Anerley Methodist Church, members and friends, that generated an additional £375, a grand total of £1,115.
In addition, District has advised that our Foundation grant application for Poverty Relief in Pakistan (Living Hope School) has been approved and £864 ($1000) deposited to our Trust Fund.
____________________________________________
Our club has had a long association with the 'Living Hope' School in the village which through Rotary, we helped to build and to equip.
The recent floods in the area have cut the village off with road and communications cut and most of the crops destroyed. The rising cost of living means that the parents of the schoolchildren are not even able to afford the basics of life.
