Charity Swimalong

This year’s Swimalong is fast approaching and recently joined members may not be aware of this event (the fifth now) which raises money for charity.   

Each year our aim is to swim a marathon ... between us! It is a collective event and swimmers of any ability are welcome. Participation is free but we hope the swimmers will raise sponsorship money for our charity.  In previous years we have raised money for Fighting Poverty in Zambia, Children in Need, RNLI and for the London Air Ambulance and this year we are supporting the Bromley Little Theatre’s ReBuiLT campaign.

We need three things to make it a success: -

Swimmers

If this year is the same as previously most of our members won't swim themselves, although they are most welcome to do so. However they will have family and friends who may like to take part in this good cause. So please spread the word and encourage your children or grandchildren to support us by swimming. Every swimmer receives a medal, a certificate, an artisan coffee and a croissant!  

Donations

Most of the money we raise is by swimmers asking friends and families to sponsor them and we have a dedicated sponsorship form for this including a gift aid box. The more swimmers we have, the more sponsorship money we will receive for the benefit of Bromley Little Theatre.

Volunteers

On the day we will need volunteers to: - 

receive the swimmers and direct them to the changing rooms,

marshall the three lanes we have to ourselves, 

keep score on the distances swum,

photograph the swimmers if they consent, 

award medals and certificates, 

provide croissant and beverage vouchers which can be redeemed at Prima Donnas across the road,

greet the Mayor of Bromley, who will attend the event

Last year, the Bromley Little Theatre Rebuilt Campaign was nominated by past President Brian for support by the club as one of his chosen charities. Work on the theatre is progressing well and this year, the proceeds of the 2023 Swimalong in March will also be in suppport of the rebuilding. The 2023 programme of theatre productions is below.
