Visit from Rotary Sodertalje

The third visit from our Swedish friends in their new enlarged, merged club "Rotary Sodertalje" was over 3 days in September 2017. This was a flying visit by six members and their wives, to say hello and to keep in touch as the party was en route to Rotary Stanford and Corringham in Essex. This came about as a result of the merger between the two Rotary clubs in Sodertalje; the other club having an established twinning arrangement already in place.

Rotary Sodertalje President Sverker Sundmark addressed the club after lunch on Thursday and we heard also from from past President Ake, who described his experiences as a district governor in setting up Rotary clubs in Russia after the break up of the Soviet Union and we heard finally from an old friend, Vigo who delighted us with an old Swedish folk song.

We were joined at lunch by Arthur, past President of Rotary Nassau, Bahamas, who was on a flying visit to London.

Finally, the Swedish party was entertained by a visit to the Churchill theatre on Thursday evening and a visit to Dulwich on Friday morning, before they were delivered by members on to the Essex club
