It was a cloudy and slightly windy day, but compared to 2024, nothing to worry about as the Swanage & Purbeck Rotary Community Fête took place on Thursday 7th August.
With more than 20 stalls, as well as traditional games such as hoop-la, darts, hook-a-duck and pull-a-cork, local residents as well as holidaymakers found plenty to entertain them on what wasn't really a 'beach day'.
From the minute the event opened at 10am, Sandpit Field was filled with people and both the charity and commercial stalls were busy with the Rotary games in the centre of the field proving popular with children and adults alike. The variety of entertainment from AllSort'd, Karen Grant, Live Ukes, Bruce Evans & Andrew Cannon and Keith Lockett ensured that anyone wishing to simply relax and listen had plenty to enjoy.
The Children's Zone, expanded in size this year, proved a big hit, offering face painting, games and activities for our younger visitors.
For those wanting refreshments, a plethora of food choices was available from Munch Catering, Burnt Toast, Ra-Ra's Tatties and Pantastic, all of whom had long queues for most of the day.
The ever popular raffle sellers were also busy all day, with more than 2,500 tickets sold and in excess of 25 quality prizes won.
The day has proved to be a great success with much needed funds raised, which will be distributed to local and international good causes.
