On a glorious balmy evening in the village of Worth Matravers, Swanage and Purbeck Rotary held the annual handover evening, where the current President hands over the reins to the new one.
This year, Chris LeFevre, who had stepped back into the role half way through the current year, handed over to local Worth resident Maggie Hardy in front of more than 40 Rotarians, partners and guests.
The weather couldn't have been better as we all assembled in the grounds of Worth Village Hall to enjoy drinks, good company and a splendid (and enormous) chicken and seafood paella prepared by our 'usual' chef Steve and his Pantastic team. This was followed by a choice of Raspberry and Passionfriut cheesecake or Roulade.
Following the meal and a chance for everyone to catch up we headed inside for the formalities where Chris handed over the chain of office to Maggie. Also formally appointed were Bart Libicki as President Elect, Chris LeFevre as Secretary and Steve Parsons as Treasurer. New President Maggie gave a special vote of thanks to outgoing Secretary David Pike for his numerous years of service to that role (not that we think David will be slowing down any day soon!).
Other presentations made during the evening included a new defibrillator to Swanage Town and Herston Football Club (which will be presented directly to them at the next opportunity) and a First Aid Certificate to Helen Hardy who has recently completed the accreditation.
