In introduction to the awards evening, Head David Pratten reflected on another busy year for the school and pupils. He congratulated those who were taking part in the awards evening and in particular those who performed in the music competition.
David Chalcraft on behalf of Swanage Rotary stressed how important the awards were to the club. "We really appreciate all the effort the young people make in Swanage Middle School" said David. "It's a pleasure on behalf of Rotary to sponsor these awards that reflect so well on the pupils and the school as a whole".
The first half of the awards evening consisted of a recital by a group of pupils who played a variety of pieces on instruments including guitar, piano, clarinet & flute. these were assessed by an external panel of judges and awards were made to several players.
Awards were also given to relect contributions made in the areas of poetry, humanities, sport, science and art. The winners were as follows:

The final award for the evening was presented by Clem Dennis on behalf of Rotary and recognised the person who had made a significant overall contribution to the school and wider community.
