2007 Link Weekend

As the leader of our youth related activity in Swanage and Purbeck Rotary Ro Clark has some strong views on how Rotary can contribute to helping our young people in Purbeck. “When you think of Rotary as on organisation, I expect that youth and Rotary do not come to mind at the same time!” said Ro, but nothing can be further from the truth. A great example of this happened recently which shows how Rotary can make a real difference. On a blustery Friday night in September several Rotary members hosted a group of Ambassadorial Scholars coming to our area from all over the world. Ro said “It was great, Students sat around a dining table having just met, sharing who they were, what subject and where they were going on to study”. Some were reaching the end of their courses, some just starting. Students, who were all sponsored by their local Rotary clubs, came from Korea, Japan, Mexico, Germany and the USA. As Ro enthused “age, gender, race or culture did not stop us from mixing and starting friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime”.
