Gillingham Rotary maintained their winning streak in this years Champions League competition by inflicting a home defeat on Swanage. However, the evening proved to be an attritional affair with both sides having to dig deep as things turned nasty.
Home skipper Mick Beck was furious in his comments afterwards, "I have to be careful as I don't want to be charged by the FA" said Mick. "But it was clear to me that they had been practicing beforehand, which is not the way we do things around here".
Gillingham made a fast start and took an early lead which they held up to half time. Gillingham resisted the Swanage tactic of being fed with deep fried food and Palmers beer at half time and were noticably much slower out of the traps in the second half. Swanage came back strongly in the second half led by Sara Brown who proved to be an expert with the large balls.
