Summer Fête Enjoys ‘Perfect Day’

On Thursday 6th August the annual Rotary Summer fête took place in Sandpit Field.

Weather conditions were ideal, with sunshine, light winds and absolutely no possibility of rain (much like most of this summer!). With a plethora of stalls and activities to enjoy, the field was busy from the start as locals and visitors alike browsed the offerings on display. 

As in previous years, the children's area was very popular, with free face painting seeing long queues of children keen to see what they could be transformed into. With games and races, and a short tennis area, available parents were able to see their children enjoying themselves in a safe environment.

A large picnic area ensured that visitors were able to sit down and enjoy the environment and also listen to the music with various artists performing during the day. Purbeck Sounds, our local community radio station, also provided music, chat and announcements in between.

Food offerings were busy for most of the day, with baps, filled rolls, Buddha bowls, crepes and pizza amongst the choices available. Purbeck Ice Cream was also present as ever and doing a brisk trade. 

The Grand Raffle took place at 4pm with three cash prizes and a great selection of other prizes from meals out to activity vouchers being won.

As the event closed at 5pm, tired Rotarians ensured that the venue was left as we found it.
