Fundraising

Ryde Rotary fund raises in a whole variety of different ways which are intended to be not just profitable but also fun and enjoyable for the members. 

There is often also a close connection between fund raising and our wish to contribute for the good of Ryde community by holding large events such as our annual ‘Party on the Green’. This is a family fun weekend in July/early August at Eastern Gardens, Esplanade. In past years, the event has had a very successful tea tent with delicious cakes donated by family and friends, stall holders and classic cars display. Arena acts included circus skills, magician and Zumba dancing complemented by a bouncy slide, children's fancy dress competition and the 'Great Ryde Cake Off' cake baking competition. We have also had some excellent choirs. This once a year event has raised thousands of pounds and nearly all that money has gone back into Island good causes.

Other fund raising has included events such as throw a dice game at the August Bank Holiday weekend Island Steam Show, Havenstreet, collections at Tesco’s, Co-op and Busy Bee.

In November, we organise a Fireworks party enjoyed by families of almost all ages, in April a plant sale and for Rotary’s own charity, Foundation, events such as a quiz night and a murder mystery evening.

The list is almost endless and restricted only be imagination of the ideas but the enthusiasm and willingness of members to help is always there.
