Ryde Rotary Club are always looking for fundraising ideas to raise money for local good causes and charities. One very popular type of fundraising is the Brewery Tour. Following a successful fundraising brewery tour of Goddards Brewery for the Air ambulance and then Yates Brewery for the IW Alzheimer's Society, Ryde Rotary Club approached Island Brewery and found them to be a mutual supporter and fundraiser of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
Ryde Rotary Club along with fellow Rotarians from other Island Rotary Clubs and their guests supported the fund raising visit to Island Brewery. The guide who also gave an interesting demonstration on beer making was given by their head brewer, the legendry Chris Coleman no less!
After sampling the fruits of Chris's labour it was said that drinking for charity seemed to be one of the most easily sold fundraising ideas, which went down very well with all those attending the brewery tour (just like the beer).
A presentation of the £350-00 raised at the brewery tour was given at a recent Ryde Rotary Club meeting where final arrangements were being put in place for the Marshalling of Walk the Wight between Bembridge and Arreton which Ryde Rotary Club are responsible for.
Pictured at the cheque presentation are Chris Coleman (Island Brewery) Karen Eeles (Earl Mountbatten Hospice) and Mark Clegg (Ryde Rotary Club).
