We are extremely grateful to our local schools who continue to support us, despite the curent difficulties, in our endeavours to donate brightly decorated shoeboxes containing wonderful gifts to children in Eastern Europe with disabilities and those from socially vulnerable families.
Last year we collected 161 boxes from local schools and friends of Rotary and we checked the contents to make sure they do not contain any disallowed objects.
In November the boxes were taken to a local depot in Bournemouth. A total of 18,669 boxes were collected across the district and during the following month these will be transported by road to children in Romania, Moldova, and Montenegro. We use Rotary Clubs in these countries, and other trusted partners, to distribute the boxes to the children in need including Ukranian refugee children staying in refugee camps in these countries, as well as in Poland.
Together we make children happy by bringing a little magic into their Christmas.
The Rotary Shoebox Scheme has no religious or political affiliations.
Please get in contact if you would like to complete a box, we provide the boxes with suggestions for contents.
