Stoneham Summer Fair

Our 'Human Fruit Machine' helped bring a smile despite the bad weather

Stoneham Summer Fair

We were all looking forward to the Stoneham Community Summer Festival which the North Stoneham Group had been planning for many months. The Bank Holiday weekend had been chosen and all preparations made.

Unfortunately the weather had other ideas with high winds and rain forecast and threatening to spoil the event. And boy, did it rain!! Luckily all good planners have a Plan B and so the event was moved indoors into the YMCA Hall.

But as the Hall was in use all morning, the event had to be shortened and start times adjusted, so now we were on Plan C. Eastleigh Rotary's happy band of volunteers were all notified of the changes and jumped into action, as always!

The Hall was pretty crowded and although we found ourselves in a corner next to the stage, we still managed to erect the Human Fruit Machine, and together with Kathy's Egg Game, we had a great afternoon. The bemused punters soon worked out what to do and joined in the fun & games and although we didn't make a lot of money, we did laugh a lot and raised our profile in this busy community. We'll be back next year and hopefully the weather will be kinder.
