Eastleigh Rotary members, together with family, friends and members from Bishops Waltham Rotary, celebrated Burns Night at Eastleigh College. 2nd Year students demonstrated their skills as chefs, waiting & bar staff and in restaurant management, providing a great evening for us all. Numbers were restricted due to Covid, but it was lovely to be able to hold this event in person once more. David, our regular piper, piped in the haggis and gave his usual Burns address with much laughter and interaction with some 'unfortunate' guests sitting nearby.
Special thanks to Nigel, who proposed the Toast To The Lassies and to Pauline who replied. Gratitude to all who supported the raffle, raising a magnificent £200 for our dementia charity and for Mike, who, not only auctioned the beautiful doll, donated by my neighbour, but also ended up buying her! The £35 raised from this will be donated to Rotary's End Polio Now campaign.
A fantastic evening with next year's event already booked for 26th January 2023. Put this date in your diary, so you can reserve your tickets nearer the time." Val Down (Secretary & President Elect)
