Once again a very successful event, attracting 18 teams (72 students) from 9 local schools/colleges and organised by the Rotary Club of Basingstoke Loddon at Basingstoke College of Technology,Worting Rd, Basingstoke, RG21 8TN
The task set was to build a bridge, mainly constructed with sheets of paper, which was capable of supporting a 1kg weight. It was interesting to see how the teams set about their task. For the younger age group this was a fixed bridge, for the intermediate group it was necessary for one span of the bridge to open and for the senior section, both spans were to open simultaneously.
The winner in the Foundation (Junior) section was Aldworth School, the Intermediate section, The Hurst School and the Advanced (Senior) section was won by Queen Mary's College team 2.
The team from Queen Mary's shown receiving their award from the Mayor, Cllr A Court, District Governor Tony Summers and President of the Basingstoke Loddon Club, Bill Crosher and displaying the bridge they had constructed.
