Why Purple Pinkies? This highlights the fight to End Polio when children receiving polio vaccine have their little finger (pinkie) marked purple so that the vaccination team know the child has already had the 2 drops of vaccine to save it from polio.

Report Match 3 v All Stars 27-04-2016:
Tony joined Toni and Ben for the match against All Stars.
They are a high ranking team that were only in the bottom division because they were relegated after not playing in the winter season of the lunchtime league.
We started well with 4 points, gifted to us by All Stars captain Lorna and we were ahead most of the match until they caught up at 8 all. Then they got a lucky 3 and then another to take them to 12. We gritted our teeth and slowly caught them up until we also had 12. The last end was neck and neck with the cochonnet perched right on the deadboule line, a very challenging situation, and to our dismay they just managed to sneak the winning point.
The hardest game so far and we should still be proud of our efforts.
No match next week to allow other teams to catch up on missed fixtures.

Report on Match 2 v the Usual Suspects (Ogier) 20-04-2016:
On a windswept Weighbridge this lunchtime Captain Jerry guided Peter and Ray to our second win of the season. That is a 100% success rate!
However it was a nail-biting finish with the Purple Pinkies having to grit their teeth and come back from 6-11 down to clinch a victory by 13 to 11 with a little assistance from Wendy of the Usual Suspects.
Ogiers team of Wendy, Mike and Alex led from the start and up to 6 all and then they shot ahead with two high-scoring ends to reach 11-6.
But this was proving to be a very tight match and the clock on the Museum was already showing 14.00 and one of the Ogier team had an appointment on the hour.
Unfortunately that meant playing on with 4 boules against our 6, tough but that is the rule, and to our credit we stayed calm and clinched victory with Jerry getting the 12th. point and Wendy pushing one of our boules forward to give us 13.
A very exciting match that proved that you should never give up, even when your opponents appear to have an unassailable lead.
Peter was a very good lead for our team, Ray improved with every throw once we outlawed his underarm technique, and Jerry was a very competent and effective captain.
Great result that should leave us top of the table for a second week.
I need to lie down after all that excitement.

Report on Match1 v Cazenove Cochonnets 14-04-2016:
On Thursday 14th. April Purple Pinkies announced their arrival in Division 4 of the POSH Lunchtime League
with an emphatic win over Cazenove Cochonnets by 13 points to 4.
This stunning debut by a team of novice players took place on The Weighbridge in far from pleasant conditions, with a steady light drizzle spoiling an otherwise fun and friendly encounter.
Toni Roberts led the team of Ben Shenton and David Le Cornu to a well-deserved victory against Paul, Fiona and Belinda from Cazenove Capita.
Next week Purple Pinkies will be playing Usual Suspects from Ogier on Wednesday from 13.00. Today we had 2 spectators to cheer the team on in spite of the rain and next week why not come along to give your support? It is more exciting than watching paint dry-honestly!
