Digging for Victory - Over Polio.
Planting Crocus at Durrell to promote Polio Eradication when they bloom.
A cold Autumn day saw 12 members of the Family of Rotary at Durrell planting crocus under the watchful eye of Caryl Kemp, Head of Landscape at Durrell.
3,000 bulbs succesfully buried in 2 hours with President Toni leading the way. I am told that new member Gary Tye provided specialist advice.
And the results 4 months later
"Visitors to Durrell are greeted by an attractive display of purple crocuses as they enter the zoo gardens. This symbol of the Rotary Polio-Plus programme will provide an annual reminder of our progress towards the final eradication of polio. Thanks to everyone who helped to plant 3,000 crocus bulbs last autumn."
