Joined by Mrs Petherick and Evie and her family from Eastriggs School, Rotarians listened intently at their weekly meeting as they were updated on the progress of the Lend with Care project running for the second year by P7 pupils.
Lend with Care helps entrepreneurs in developing countries to work their way out of poverty, whilst maintaining their dignity and integrity. By porviding a micro-loan, a business is able to grow and develop and when the loan is re-paid it is given back to another borrower. The loans the P7 Lend with Care Ambassadors chose to give this year included one to an elderly Vietnamese widow living in Sam Son city who makes her living from agriculture and wished to buy ten piglets and two cows to raise on her farm. Also, for Nam, who runs a small grocery store in a coastal part of the world prone to natural disasters. Nam simply wishes to grow her business.
As well as learning about world geography, Lend with Care teaches so much about global economics and helps to embed the motivation in all of us to make the world a better place for everyone.
