Toilet Twinning

They want to flush away poverty, one loo at a time

Toilet twinning is an initiative started by a charity to help bring clean water and safe sanitation to the world's poorest people by linking your loo with a latrine in Africa or Asia. (https://www.toilettwinning.org).

They want to flush away poverty, one loo at a time. They may only have a latrine, but these underprivileged people also receive fresh water, toilet utensils and education to increase hygiene and reduce disease in these remote communities. The charity is one of many International projects supported by Rotary and many others.

You can donate on your own, sponsoring your own toilet to be twinned and you receive a certificate to put on the wall of your loo. We thought we could sponsor our public loos at Castle Green Leisure Centre in Broughty Ferry. Broughty Rotary thought it would be great to have ALL the Broughty community supporting a project like this and see if we can collectively raise £1000 towards giving people a safe clean loo. It seems a basic necessity, but there are many people in this situation.

If we all work together, we can make a difference. It’s difficult to fund-raise with Covid19 around so all the fundraising will be on-line, using Broughty Rotary’s Toilet Twinning Virgin Money Giving page. Try an online quiz to raise funds or an online karaoke or even an online dance competition with friends or just donate to help a worthy cause at a difficult time! Every penny raised on our page will go to this charity and we’ll keep it going till the end of July. In this way we can add it up and see how the town’s efforts can grow week-on-week for a good cause. Look out for regular updates on Facebook.
