Lynne and Philip Highy received the British Empire Medals in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in June 2021. The medals were awarded for many years of service to the local community, charity fundraising and all their work in the community during Covid 19 at both the vaccination centres, pharmacy deliveries, attending to the elderly that were housebound and arranging different things in the village to help through the lockdown.
As part of their award, they were invited to a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace and was a privilege to attend with Kate their daughter, and met The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, The Count & Countess of Wessex and Prince Beatrice. Laura their eldest daughter was unable to join due to work commitments.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they hosted the third and last annual Garden Party of 2022 at Buckingham Palace on May 25th
