On Saturday the Rotary Club of Princes Risborough held the Christmas lunch for the over 75s living alone in the town. The club had been involved with this event since its inception in 13 years ago and took on the organisation and funding of the lunch from the Council in 2019, who have continued to support the event since.
The lunch was held on 14th December at the Princes Centre with an excellent Christmas meal provided by Semra of Crumbs2 in the High Street which was enjoyed by all with a glass of wine. Those guests who were unable to get themselves to the Centre were collected by Members of the Rotary Club. They were greeted by Trevor Fitch our ’Master of Ceremonies’ and the Revd David Williams of St Mary’s church said grace. We were supported by the WI, Monks’s Risborough Primary School and the local Beavers who made Christmas cards for our guests. Councillor Matt Walsh of the Buckinghamshire Council helped with the meal along with Gerg Smith MP for Mid Bucks who said a few words to the group after the meal following which we were entertained again by the excellent Princes Risborough Ukulele Band.
The date for next year’s lunch is in the diary for 6th December, and the Rotary Club are hoping to run a lunch in the elderly in June next year.
