After a brief diversion about penguins, David starts by discussing the ‘heroic age’ of exploration in Antarctica – in particular the voyages of Scott, Amundsen and Shackleton. He then moves on to his own experiences, sailing across the Southern Ocean and down the Antarctic peninsula, describing some spectacular landscapes and the variety of wildlife that exists there in abundance.
