ROTARY CHARITY GOLF DAY 19TH OCTOBER 2023
The annual Golf Day returned for the first time since the end of the COVID restrictions.
A total of 43 golfers took part in a 4 - ball Stapleford over the testing Whiteleaf Golf Club Course.
The weather forecast was grim but fortuitously the heavens only opened with just a few holes to play.
The format of the day followed previous years, starting with a bacon roll and coffee at 8.30am. After 4 hours of golf the players were treated to a welcome hot meal comprising bangers and mash, apple crumble and custard.
A raffle and auction followed to swell the charity account coffers. A huge thank you to those Rotarians who made cash donations, provided raffle prizes and obtained 4 ball vouchers from surrounding golf clubs. Very generous and much appreciated.
President Graeme Card presented the prizes to the top three teams, best male and best female score, nearest the line and nearest the pin.
Princes Risborough Rotary club lead a clean sweep of the top three teams, captained by John Whites, Steve Tucker and Al Bowyer coming in 1/2/3. They were told that they would be fined at the next meeting. Sorry John no picture of your team.
A huge thanks to Al Bowyer, Keith Rosling and Richard Stevenson for organising the event and to Brian and Sylvia Clark, Rupert Aries and Trevor Fitch for helping on the day.
The good news is the event raised a total of £ 2,217 including gift aid.
A great day for the golfers and a great day for our local charities.
