For the second year the Princes Risborough Rotary Chess Competition was held at Griffin House School on the 24th June 2023. Our thanks go to the Head Teacher, Miss Helen Milnes, for allowing us to use the school.
Twenty local Primary schools were sent posters and entry forms for the competition. Twenty four children entered from 12 of these schools. This is the maximum number we could accommodate.
The event went well. The children were very enthusiastic and enjoyed themselves. The Awards and Certificates were presented by the President of the Rotary Club, Graeme Card. The Winner was Alex Jackson of Cuddington and Dinton C of E School and he received the Cup.
The runner up was Ethan Maton also of Cuddington and Dinton C of E School and he received the Shield. All the children taking part received a Certificate of Merit.
Thanks must go to David Cliff and Rowena Card for the photographs, also two non-Rotarian chess experts, Mr Mike Turton and Mrs Dee Turton, who helped enormously with the event.
