Tree of Light sets new records

The Princes Risborough Tree of Light is in its 12th year and has this year set new records for the number of dedications and donations.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Princes Risborough, the event raises funds for Rennie Grove Hospice Care and Rotary charities.

Intense cold, the threat of snow and the continuing uncertain Covid situation did not discourage a large crowd from gathering for the Dedication Ceremony on 28th November in Duke Street Gardens. The Ceremony was led by the Reverend David Williams and the lights on the Tree were switched on by Town Mayor Andy Ball.

Dedications are displayed on boards close to the Tree and will remain on display until the end of the year. Attendees came from a wide area, with one gentleman travelling up from Exeter for the service and to remember family members. Over 600 dedications have been made this year, and donations are expected to total £6,700 plus gift aid.

There was no Dedication Ceremony in 2020 due to Covid, but its return this year has confirmed the important place that the Tree of Light holds for many people in and around Princes Risborough.
