International Projects

Part of the ethos of Rotary International is to advance global understanding, goodwill and peace by fostering acquaintance with people of other coiuntries.

With this in mind, the club raises money for those overseas activities we feel require special attention.

We support Shelterbox and Aquabox to relieve the effects of natural disasters (tsunamis, floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanos and conflicts) throughout the world with temporary accomodation and fresh water. The most recent being the floods cause by a hurricane in the Philippines.

We help raise money for Rotary District led charities such as 'Goodwill And Growth for Africa (GAGA) with Alan Wolstencroft, Jim McWhirter's project in Kamuli, Mercy Ships , Nyumbani in Kenya for HIV orphans and more recently Ebola in Liberia.

Some of our projects are on-going or new charities that we support every year that have been brought to our attention by local people in the Risborough area, for example Green Park School in Lusaka, and St Francis Bay Rotary Club sponsorship of collecting everyday rubbish for recycling in the townships of South Africa. We have also been ask to help two schools in Kuluva in Uganda for the very basics in humanities.

The Club is twinned with a German club from Wasserburg in Bavaria, with whom we not only meet regularly for fun and fellowship, but share and support charitable projects.
