The Club provides help and assistance with local events either by committing our time and resources or by raising funds. Our busiest time is in the latter half of the year, starting with the Kop Hill Climb in September, which is not organised by RCPR, but is nevertheless an event strongly supported by the club who help to ensure the many thousands of attendees are kept safe and have an enjoyable day out.
We do assume full responsibility for the Annual Fireworks display, held on the School playing fields opposite the bottom end of Kop Hill Road on the last Saturday in October. This event is always well attended, with over 1,000 people coming to see the display. In late November we escort local senior citizens to the West Wycombe pantomime.
In December the club organises the Tree of Light, which provides an opportunity to remember and celebrate the life of someone special by dedicating a light on the Tree in the gardens at the corner of New Road and Duke Street. All funds raised at this event are shared between Rennie Grove Hospice Care and Rotary charities. Over £5,000 was raised in 2014, and more than £28,000 in the last 7 years.
One of our other main fund raising initiatives happens in the lead up to Christmas, when we assist with the turn on of the town's Christmas lights, and can be seen out and about in Princes Risborough with our collecting buckets and mince pies.
As a club we are also committed to the Princes Centre project for which we have raised over £25,000 to help to ensure the success of this venture. To help raise funds for this project we run an annual golf day which raised over £5000 and in 2013 we ran the Black Prince Cycling Ride which raised over £9000.
