AROUND THAMES VALLEY IN 80 WAYS
Wheelpower are working with Rotary G.B & Ireland to extend their Wheel Appeal project in a Rotary Wheel Appeal. Rotary clubs within the U.K. have been asked to rise to the challenge and raise monies in their community for those people who just cannot put on a pair of trainers to join in sport.
The objective is to promote those individuals who are disabled to become our Power Olympians of the future and lead a healthy and active life through sport.
Rotary clubs within the Thames Valley have decided to adopt a relay of various wheeled transport to travel from club to club passing on a baton and raising money on the way.
For example Haddenham club recently visited Princes Risborough club on a variety of vehicles including a pennyfarthing bicycle,horse box and wheelie bin. President Tom Winkworth received the baton from Haddenhams vice president John Brown in readiness to pass on to the Jordans club president Yvonne Childs on Monday 3rd June at 7.00pm at the Bellhouse Hotel Beaconsfield.
The journey from Princes Risborough Golf Club starts at 1600h to Beaconsfield will call at the following venues for the baton exchange;
- 1630h The Chilton Hotel Saunderton
- 1700h The Claire Foundation Saunderton
- 1730h The Red Lion Bradenham
- 1900h The Bellhouse Hotel Beaconsfield
Wheel power used on this journey will be a variety of bicycles, a Kop Hill Climb Soapbox, a sports wheelchair and a Model T Ford.
On arrival at the destination the baton will change hands for its onward trip across the Thames Valley.

Tree of Light November 2014
back Nearly 500 people attended the dedication ceremony on Sunday November 30th 2014. With over 500 dedications, donations raised over £5000. Dedications are displayed close to the tree and the tree remained lit until the end of December 2014.
