On Friday 7th December, the Rotary Club of Princes Risborough joined forces with Bucks Young Carers
to hold a Christmas Party at the Aylesbury Multicultural Centre for 95 Young Carers aged
between 6 and 12 years old.
Young Carers are children and young people, who care for someone in their own home who is ill,
has a physical or mental disability, or drug or alcohol problems. Often, these youngsters lack the
opportunity for social and sporting activities that most children enjoy. Young Carers Bucks
provides support for these young people in a variety of ways through regular clubs and activities
and one to one support where needed.
At the party, the Young Carers could let their hair down. There were face painters, great food and
Christmas crackers for all. Entertainment was provided by Blaze Disco who organised the
dancing and games. A surprise visit from Santa and his Elves rounded off the evening perfectly
with a gift for each Young Carer The occasion was definitely a success with a number of children
asking if the party really had to end!
RCPR made a significant contribution to the party by providing funding, and helping out during the
evening. Some of the Young Carers have signed a giant Christmas card thanking the Club for the
Party.
