Marlow Rotary Club at Marlow Carnival
On the cold morning of September 14, members of Marlow Rotary Club erected their gazebo in Higginson Park in support of Marlow Carnival. The day started slowly but, as the weather brightened up towards noon, more people started to appear on the footpath which goes down to the bank of the River Thames.
Marlow Rotary Club uses its presence at Marlow Carnival not only to support this community initiative, but also to promote Rotary, and in particular such events as its Ascot Brass (with Harmony Belles) concert on the 12 October and the Rotary-organised Santa’s Fun Run on the 1 December.
The Rotarians and friends manning the stand were pleased to find that there was a good awareness of Santa’s Fun Run among the public passing by, and several people said that they had already booked their tickets.
Hopefully, the Rotary presence also brought the Ascot Brass concert to the attention of a larger audience – this is not just any old brass band, but a group of very experienced musicians playing a broad repertoire of music. And this year they are supported by the Harmony Belles, Marlow’s own all-female four part singing group. The concert starts at 7.00 pm in All Saints Church, Marlow
Rotary, like most service organisations, needs to recruit more members to staff its many charitable activities, so if you are interested in giving something back to your community, why not get in touch with your local Rotary Club?
