A fun day of activities and food for young carers and their families

Preparations for a busy day

Marlow Rotary Club helps out at Young Carers Family Day Out on the 3 August. Once a year the Rotary Club of Marlow Thames organises a bumper day for young carers and their families. In recent years this has taken place in the buildings and grounds of Foxes Piece school in Marlow.

It was a huge success, with just short of 200 attendees enjoying a range of activities and food. Cakes, very important on these occasions, were brilliant. The feedback from participants has been glowing; here are a few of the comments.

“A lovely afternoon that we have been to for the last 3 years. It’s lovely to see my son meet with other young carers and be able to go off and have fun with them at the family day, while we can entertain our other son with lots of other activities to keep him happy. A lovely day that we all really enjoy and look forward to.”

“We all enjoyed a great day out, and the weather was brilliant too. My two enjoyed themselves very much, and me and their dad enjoyed being big kids too. Getting involved with the activities too. And seeing how caring and loving everyone was with kind hearts was absolutely beautiful.”

“This was the most special day, and we were taken aback by the number of volunteers and free activities for the children to do/free food and drinks etc. We expected to pay for things and were so touched by your generosity. THANK YOU!”

“It was a lovely day. All the staff (many of whom were from the Marlow Rotary Clubs) were very friendly and welcoming. Lots of different activities and the free BBQ was appreciated. Thanks to all who organised this day.”

“The Marlow fun day is really GREAT. It gives the family a great day of fun /food and relaxation. Thanks to all for organising such a BRILLIANT event.”
