Once again Rotary supported The Hurst Show and Country Fayre
over the weekend of the 28th and 29th June. It was a weekend of glorious and
very hot weather.
Our ‘Call for Volunteers’ resulted in 14 RCLV Members offering help over the
two days, and we were also able to call up on friends / partners and
prospective members to assist. However, the rota required a lot of support, so
we called upon our Interact Club at Piggott School as well as our daughter
Rotary Club of Reading Maiden Erlegh and the Rotary Club of Reading Matins.
After reporting to the Hurst Show Committee Tent on time and being well briefed
we started the day. Some members were given radios in case of emergency and
some had SumUp machines to operate at the entrances. The Hurst Show Committee
provided excellent and very supportive Team Leaders who also ensured that water
bottles were supplied on a regular basis to the volunteers.
For all our efforts The Hurst Show donated a substantial sum for us to distribute to local charities and worthwhile causes.
The Hurst Show is a real community and family friendly event and extremely well organised. The Rotary Family came together to help raise significant funds for local charities. Thanks to all those who volunteered.
