Woodley, Sonning, Earley, Twyford and surrounding areas in Berkshire.


The banner is made up of five parts:

Aircraft

This represents Woodley Aerodrome, during WW2 it was used by RAF Flying Training Command. On 14th December 1931 after performing a low-level slow roll Douglas Bader crashed losing both legs.

Loddon lily (Leucojum aestivum) 

Also called the summer snowflake it is native to UK and takes its name from the Loddon where it was reputedly first found and categorized.

Crossed Keys 

Represents St Andrews church, Sonning, the cross signifies his crucifxion. Some parts of the church date back to 13th & 14thcentury

Castle

Refers to Bishops Palace in Sonning (Holme Park), permission having been granted to crenellate the palace in 1337.

Loddon

River Loddon rises near Basingstoke and joins the Thames near Wargrave.
