We are proud to be part of the incredible Purple4Polio campaign to help raise awareness and represent the importance of the eradication of Polio. The club has purchased 5,000 crocus bulbs which have been distributed around Iver and the surrounding area.
The 5,000 bulbs have been allocated to the following organisations - in 2019
The Iver Scouts
Iver Heath Infant School
Richings Park Community Association
Iver Heath Community & Rambler Association
1st Langley Scouts
We would like to thank each and every person who has been involved with the planning and planting of the crocus bulbs which we have organised with the help of the Iver Parish Council.

Dear Fellow Rotarians
Once
again we are planning to plant Purple Crocus Corms in 2020 - GB&I are
purchasing 2 million Corms and therefore District 1090 again would like
your support.
Polio
and COVID-19 are each classified by the World Health Organisation as a
Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The world is now only
too well aware that a virus can literally be just a plane ride away.
Thankfully for the Poliovirus there is a safe and effective vaccine but
we still have to ensure every single child across the globe receives
their polio immunisations.
People of all ages (young and not so young, able bodied and differently abled) love to get involved, you just have to ask them.
Purple
Crocus Corm planting and flowering is a great way of telling not just
Rotary's Polio Story, but about Rotary generally and your Rotary Club in
particular.
You
could get them interested well before that as part of planning and
ordering of corms stage. Tell them how community groups can work with
your Rotary club or order their own. You could also see if you can find
any potential sponsors to cover the cost of the corms for you.
Tell
them what you do in your own community and overseas. It's a way to open
doors and engage with local people, politicians, celebrities and the
media. Make sure you work with your whole club including Public Image;
Community and youth teams.
Volunteers
and groups to consider linking with include: RotaKids; Interact;
Rotaract and the Royal Horticultural Society's Britain in Bloom groups
(other RHS Community gardening groups with whom you have an established
relationship; groups you want to get to know; schools; colleges;
universities; youth groups; residential homes; special needs groups;
young mums; etc.
Please
visit our District Website under Foundations click Polio which has also
been updated with lots of good information ref to planting etc.
