Guest speaker was Karen Watson, Volunteer Co-ordination Officer for Families First - St Andrews (FFSt-A), a charity which offers a one-to-one Befriending Service to children and young people in NE Fife from trained volunteers who share similar interests. Children in need of support are referred by schools and social work networks and are offered support to face and overcome the challenges they face, to improve their social connections, and to develop their personal well-being and development. Be-frienders also work with the wider family unit such as parents and carers to offer a holistic experience. The charity has volunteers, Charity Trustees, Partner Agencies, 10 staff members, supporters and service users. Rotary St Andrews has been involved with FFSt-A over the years with funding for 'Wave Project' referrals, sports days with the university’s Saints Sport, trips to the pantomime at The Byre. Projects such as these increase the confidence of a young person in ways that would not otherwise be possible for them. Karen ended by thanking the Club for their valued support to FFSt-A and other local charities. Colin Brown gave the vote of thanks.
