Teapot Trust provides art therapy, as a clinical intervention, to children and young people living with long-term health conditions that cause them pain.
The charity’s art therapy and art psychotherapy have proved highly effective – often where talking therapies haven’t.
Typically, participants say art therapy enabled them to not feel defined by their illness.
Currently, the charity partners with 33 hospitals and patient advocacy groups.
Since its creation in 2010, over 16,000 young patients have been supported.
Sarah Randell has served as Teapot Trust’s CEO for 6 years.
Her background is in charity, the arts and education where she held Development Director roles (including at Age Scotland, the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool and High School of Dundee).
Sarah has worked to ensure Teapot Trust is sustainable and to achieve growth so that many more children and young people benefit.
In post through Covid and some tough economic challenges, Sarah has embraced partnership working and creative approaches to reach more children and overcome health inequalities.
The voices of young people are now firmly at the heart of everything Teapot Trust does and they are supported to self-advocate to clinicians.
Sarah looks forward to sharing facts and stats, insights and case studies with St Andrews Rotary Club and to answering members’ questions.
She’ll bring some art materials so that anyone who wishes to can try some ‘light touch’ therapeutic art!
