The meeting took the form of social lunch followed by an address from District 1010 Governor, Brian Stewart. Guests included Brian’s wife, Sally and Assistant District Governor Bill McSeveney. Brian spoke of the pride the Club took in being part of a world-wide organisation, in having served the local community for almost 100 years, in setting up the Arklight project and the International Golf Competition. He spoke, too, of the problem of falling membership and the need to organise publicity better to ’sell’ the Club to new potential members. He outlined the District’s upcoming publicity campaign which hopes to increase membership via the ‘Direct Hub’ and attract younger members. Other possible types of membership include Direct membership, Corporate membership and Enterprise membership. Brian’s final message was to urge the Club to find new members and make them feel happy and valued. John Christie, presiding, thanked him for his address. Lunch was followed by a meeting of Club Council.
