The speaker was Dr Wilbur Sibiiti who provided members with an introduction to the Rotary Club of Wakiso in Uganda; Dr Sibiiti was a founder member on the establishment of this club two years ago. Located in Wakiso District near both Kampala and Lake Victoria, the club has a young and determined membership of thirty and is growing its membership through introductions of new members by existing membership. The club is active in supporting local organisations in their community and has provided additional facilities at a local hospital in support of pregnant women attending anti-natal clinics. Members are also involved in the support of cancer patients who may not be able to access treatment locally in Wakiso and have to be transported to medical facilities in other locations. Amongst other club projects has been a tree planting on an island in Lake Victoria. Dr Sibiiti has been a regular attender at meetings of the St. Andrews Rotary Club both in person and through the series of online meetings held during the recent Covid period. He is currently based in St.Andrews where he is an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine at St. Andrews University and, whilst here, hopes to foster cooperation between the St Andrews Rotary Club and his own club in Uganda. The Vote of Thanks to Dr Sibiiti for his informative presentation was given by past president Colin Mitchell
