President Colin's job talk

The Rotary Club of St Andrews were given an insight to the “Bull Sales” by President Colin Mitchell.

The world-famous Bull Sales are held biannually at United Auctions mart in Stirling.

Colin showed a video of what is involved in the marketing of cattle and sheep.  It showed the coverage of the United Auctions team throughout Scotland.  In the Western Isles the auctioneer spoke fluent Gaelic, much to the amusement of the audience.

Colin then told of his years as a director of United Auctions and UA Group plc. The company made major changes during his spell as a director, with property development being much behind the resultant present day auction mart.  Now owned and operated by some of the original staff, the business is giving an excellent service to the farming community throughout Scotland.

Although members of the Rotary Club knew Colin was a farmer and took Rotaract students to the Bull Sales, they had not known the level of his involvement as a director.

Frank Quinault gave an impromptu vote of thanks to Colin.
