A joint Burns Supper hosted by both the Rotary Club of St Andrews and the Rotary Club of Kilrymont St Andrews in the newly-refurbished Scores Hotel took place on Tuesday 20th January.
Following the welcome address from St Andrews Club President John Christie, almost 100 guests enjoyed an informal and entertaining evening of speeches and song.
After the traditional meal, the evening opened with music the choir STAVE (St Andrews Vocal Ensemble).
Keith McCartney delivered the Immortal Memory, which he carried out with great aplomb and humour, a past President of the St Andrews Burns Club and an Ayrshire man born and bred.
Carrying on the joint efforts and theme of the event, members of both clubs had their arms twisted to contribute to the spirit of the evening including a Burns' grace, piping in the haggis, addressing the haggis, delivering Tam O' Shanter with great gusto providing “The Toast to the Lassies” and the reply.
By the time the community singing of some Burns’ classics was led by another couple of members, on guitar, the audience were in great voice.
The evening was concluded by Kilrymont Club President John Fernie who proposed a vote of thanks to all who took part and also to the Scores Hotel staff who, he said, had gone out of their way to ensure a fine event whilst still closed to the general public for refurbishment
