Dr Blaikie is Senior Lecturer in Global Health Implementation at the University of St Andrews School of Medicine. He is also Consultant Ophthalmologist at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.
The Arclight device is being distributed with training by the University Global Health Implementation team in countries such as Uganda and Malawi.
It is a simple, sustainable device making great progress by easy eye examination in these countries, saving many blindness problems which are detected at an early stage.
His presentation greatly enlightened not only Rotarians, but also pupils from Madras College and St Leonards School who were present. Also present were Rotaract students, one of which attends Dr Blaikie's lectures at St Andrews University.
