Rotary Young Citizen of the Year book launch

Thu, Jul 16th 2015 at 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Gillian Gamble (Ferguson) who was nominated by Rotary Club of St Andrews and won Young Citizen of the Year a few years ago is launching a book "I Love St Andrews"

Gillian won Young Citizen of the Year Award for her project in building an orphanage for children in India.  She appeared on BBC 24 hour News where she explained her project.  Gillian was an Interact member in Dundee and mentored by Eric Brown then of the Dundee Rotary Club.

In Peter Davidson's year as President of St Andrews, Colin Mitchell, who was International convenor, mentored Gillian and encouraged her when our Club entered her for the national Rotary Young Citizen of the Year Award.

St Andrews Rotary Club donated £3000 towards the orphanage and Gillian more than doubled that by selling bricks at £10 per brick to students at St Andews University.  Gillian and 10 students travelled to India and were physically involved in building the orphanage.

Gillian is a great fund raiser for different charities and 10% of the proceeds of her book sales will go to the food bank in St Andrews.

For a signed copy of this fun illustrated book of verse be at J&G Innes Book Shop between 5.30 and 6.30 on Thursday 16th July 2015.

If you miss the book launch books can be purchased at J&G Inness for £15.
