National ‘Rodney Huggins Environmental Award’ :

this is the first time a national Rotary award has been given to Sudbury Rotary Club in its 67 year history. More details.

Rotary Gold Environment Award :

Sudbury Rotary Club was delighted to be awarded the prestigious Gold Environment Award. We are only the second club in District-1080 to achieve this high standard.  More details.

Projects with local primary schools :

now in its sixth year, in partnership with nature and wildlife groups around Sudbury, over 300 primary school children have attended educational visits to a number of local environmental and wildlife sites including Sudbury Common Lands, Suffolk Wildlife Trust, River Stour Trust, Arger Fen, Dawes Hall Nature Trust and Eden Rose Coppice Trust.  We have also recently begun to work with individual primary schools by providing funding and support for projects specific to the schools - find out more here.

Working with Eden Rose Coppice :

100 trees have been sourced by the club and donated by the Woodland Trust for planting along the boundary hedge of Eden Rose Coppice with the help of children from the Special Needs Unit at St. Gregory’s School.

A member of the Stour Valley Education Network (SVEN) :

a partnership of outdoor learning providers delivering education in the Stour Valley.   It is a forum for sharing ideas and best practice, and to encourage wider involvement in environmental education and outdoor learning in the area.

Planting 5,000 purple crocuses :

the crocuses demonstrate Rotary’s work in eliminating polio, with some local schools being visited and given an information pack and poster about ‘Help Rotary to End Polio’. Photos.
