Once again, St. Peter's Church was filled to capacity on a Saturday evening in June for our 37th Summer Concert. In past years, this has been a "Rotary Prom", but this year we were delighted to welcome the Rock Choir for the first time. The atmosphere, enthusiasm and volume generated by the choir was tremendous and resulted in a memorable evening.
As well as providing an evening's entertainment, the concert generates a good sum of money that can be donated to good causes. Towards the end of her year as President, Lynda Sebbage was charged with deciding, along with some help from various members, where to distribute the funds from the concert. She was keen to see the environment feature prominently as well as local Sudbury causes.
At a Club lunch during July, four benefactors came along to receive their allocation of these funds - Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Eden Rose Coppice, The Befriending Scheme and Stour Valley Vineyard for the Foodbank Project. Everyone was delighted with their cheque and we hope this will not only make a small difference to the vital work these groups undertake, but also enable the Club to build links and forge good working partnerships for the future.
