Tonight we had the delightful annual task of passing our hard earned fundraising on to the worthy causes that we have chosen this year - see the Christmas Parking Handout. We welcomed representatives from these charities, Cambridge University and volunteers and came together to celebrate the success of raising £33,000 and also to acknowledge the fantastic efforts that are made to improve the life of others by the organisations involved.
We heard first hand about the projects each charity has in mind for the coming year that we will have enabled.
Chris Mann - broadcaster for BBC Radio Cambridge - kindly agreed to do the presentations to our main donation organisations and we were also supported by our DG (East Anglia) David Simpson. Chris thanked us for all our efforts and mentioned that he has been using our Xmas Carparks for the last 15 years and was very grateful for their service. His father-in-law was a devoted rotarian and would have been proud of the more than £300,000 raised so far. He is looking forward to having David and James on his show in the near future.
The Club recognised the hard work of members involved particularly David for being the main organiser over so many years (a second Paul Harris Fellowship), Terry for his liaison with the University Estate management and the Chemistryy Department, plus Vicky for calmly co-ordinating the 270 slots / 679 hours of volunteer time.
We have carefully chosen a wide variety of local, national and international charities to benefit from our hard work this year, some of which provided volunteer parking stewards who willingly shared the cold and damp with our members, friends and partners, - including :
Campod
Look Good Feel Better
Friends of the Rosie
Jimmys Emergency Shelter

The Vet School
Homeless Footbal Annual Tournament
Shelter Boxes
Monthly Memory Cafe
