Sep 2018 Girton Memory cafe - Dance

Fri, Sep 7th 2018 at 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Organiser Richard de Horsey. The Memory Cafe welcomes All. A warm welcome for people with dementia or other problems associated memory loss (and their families / carers). Our ninetieth event! Theme - Dance !

This month we had a lovely shiny day for our Dance Theme.  Our crew got dressed up to the nines and looked very glam.  Cathy Middleton, a local dance teacher, kindly gave up some time to come and lead us through some moves - Many Thanks to You !

Our 2 pianists played tunes from the past that included waltzes, quicksteps, Rock and Roll and Slow Rhythm.

Wendy and Sian acted out 2 poems, which raised a giggle and a grin, about the fun of dancing but the toll it takes on the feet !

The Perils of Winkle-Pickers  (a cautionary tale) was written by our very own poet Vicky Burman.

You can find Cathy's Class Tue 10.30-11.30am St Andrews Street Baptist Church, Cambridge - Contemporary Dance for Adults especially  01223 232187 40+yrs.

The aim is to evoke old memories that are complete and comfortable through, for example, refreshments in china cups, home made cakes, photos and documents from past years, songs and poems and informal talks.
