Nov 2017 Speaker Chris Blencowe - 'CPPF in the round'

Mon, Nov 27th 2017 at 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Speaker & meal. Speaker Host - Deshini Newman, Guest Host - Naoum Tsolakis, Cashier - Martin Hudson.

Tonight we enjoyed an interesting talk on the Cambridge Past, Present and Future project and a tasty meal. The organisation was called the Cambridge Preservation Society until its relaunch.  It is thanks to their efforts that we have areas such as Wandlebury and Coton still preserved as public open spaces.  They resist ribbon developement along our major roads that would take away the character of our ancient city.  They strongly support cycling and other green types of transport and are keeping a weathered eye on the current proposals to add an underground train to help travel East-West across the city.

Chris is an Emeritus Fellow of Pembroke College. Prior to coming to Cambridge in 2005, he spent a full career in the Royal Air Force. He was the Bursar of Pembroke College until his retirement in 2013. During this time he gained a strong interest in Cambridge Planning issues and chaired the Cambridge Colleges Environment and Planning Committee.
