Nov 2017 Dr Steven Scott - The Genomics Revolution & You.

Mon, Nov 20th 2017 at 5:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Meal & Speaker. Guest Host - Vicky Burman, General Host - Mike Smith, Cashier - Nick Hudson

This evening Dr Steven Scott visited us from the Sanger Centre Genome Campus and spoke on the very fascinating subject of Genomics.  Many members will remember the excellent visit we had at the Centre in 2016.

It was striking how the science has moved on in the short time since our visit.  The cost of sequencing someones DNA has come right down and the time it takes drastically reduced.  The new sequencing machines they were installing then are now up and running and they make the centre the most important in the country.

We were also delighted to welcome a first time rotarian visitor from Italy who hopes to be based in Cambridge very soon.

We met in the Assembly Room today.
