This annual long weekend in very special for Rotary - one of the largest community support organisations in the world. The central Rotary organisation - based in Evanston, Illinois - organise a massive Conference and all members from every country can book in to attend. This year it is being held in Atlanta, Georgia - last year it was in Portugal and next year it is in Toronto, Canada.
It introduces this years Rotary International President and they talk about their year ahead and the priorities that they will be asking us all to concentrate on. The Rotary GB&I and District councils will be briefed on how they can support the Clubs to achieve these. The 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide represent a huge force for good in the world, especially if we co-ordinate our efforts.
Next Years theme is Rotary Making a Difference - for the people who need us. Together we can have a much bigger effect than acting alone. Each Club decides on what action they will take.
Our Club representatives will be reporting back to us after their fact finding is complete.
There was a great mix of excellent speakers including Bill Gates, CEO of Coco Cola and the Rotary International President.
Everyone has come back inspired and enthusiastic.
Next Year the worldwide Convention will be in Toronto, Canada - some of our members have taken advantage of the early-bird deals and have booked already !
