Feb 2017 District 1080 Young Musican of the Year Final

Sun, Feb 26th 2017 at 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

our 3 Candidates did very well !

Today talented young musicians from across East Anglia came together in the District 1080 Competition.

With 3 vocalists, 3 pianists, a guitarist, a saxophonist, a violinist and a flautist there was wonderful variety of style and music.

Our 3 Candidates from the Club competition did us proud :-

Olivia Bouton - Flute  - played Berceuse by Faure and Allegretto (Study No 9) by Koehler. - in her first ever competition.

Nagi Tateno - Piano -  played Prelude & Fugue No 9 in E Major by Bach, Etude No 5 by Chopin and Liebstraum by Liszt.

Edward Bellett-Travers - sang Toglietemi la via ancor by Scarlatti, Die Forelle by Schubert and Down by the Sally Gardens by Gurney.

At the end of a lovely afternoon the Judges gave their very considered decisions on who had won - a very difficult comparison to make - and gave some very thoughtful feedback to each candidate.

We hope to persuade Olivia, Nagi and Edward to perform for us at a Club Meeting in the coming months.

We are delighted to announce that both Edward (District Runner-up Vocalist) and Nagi (District Runner-up Instrumentalist) went to the Regional Competition in Colchester !! They performed really well.

Grace Cushing (Runner-up Vocalist) and George Corson (Winning Instumentalist) joined them.
